As part of the social responsibility drive of the company focused on important business partners, on April 13, 2010 Bavaria presented the second phase of the program “Bavaria Opportunities: Educational Support for Shopkeeper's children”. Since the initiative began in October 2009 the Company has been enabling access to higher education degree courses (technical, technological and university) to the children and grandchildren of shopkeepers in vulnerable socioeconomic groups throughout the country. 500 students are projected to join the program during the second semester of 2010 and 3,000 over the next three years.
“At Bavaria we are committed to the development and improvement in the quality of life of the children of all our shopkeepers, as in addition to being our clients, they are also our most valued friends. They represent an important part of the economy, in addition to being natural leaders and role models for leadership and personal achievement. The only thing we ask the shopkeepers in return for their children or grandchildren taking advantage of this program is that they sell our products according to the regulated prices, and that under no circumstances they sell alcohol to minors” said Fernando Jaramillo, Vice President of Corporate Affairs Bavaria.
